1949 Marx, Mechanical Roadster (Red) in Original Box

1949 Marx, Mechanical Roadster (Red) in Original Box

Super, cherry red mechanical tin litho roadster complete with original illustrated box. Sleek, late 40's styling with silver lithoed bonnet and front hood divider; accented with white stripping and outlined in black. This version did not have a driver.

White lithoed chassis with clipped, rolled metal edges to firmly hold the body in place. Two rear wooden tires and two front rubber tires which provide "grab" (front axle is attached to the mechanical motor). Transparent plastic, divided windshield with matching clear plastic steering wheel. The steering wheel, although the correct size and shape appears to be almost "hand-made" with an overall rough surface. Either it's a weird factory phenomenon, or it's been replaced.

Nicely illustrated box shows a sporty looking dude barreling through the countryside in his convertible. The side panels show a more "refined" looking driver passing by a country billboard with "Mechanical Roadster" printed across it.

Size: 11½" x 4".
